What to expect on your first visit:

New Patient Paperwork
Please click on the links below and print out all forms provided. Complete your paperwork prior to your first visit with Dr. Cassese. This will help to expedite your time in the office and get you in with Dr. Cassese as close to your appointment time as possible. Of course, filling out the forms does not have to be computerized. Please see our receptionist if you would rather she provide the forms and help with some of the details.

Consult
Once you have completed your paperwork, Dr. Cassese will review the information and consult with you on any health-related problems, concerns, and treatment options. Dr. Cassese is a compassionate person who makes health care visits more personal

History
In order to have a better idea of what type of problem you are presenting, Dr. Cassese will ask various questions related to your condition. These questions help to obtain more information and allow her to form a more educated opinion of what needs to be examined and how she can help. Sometime vertebral problems can run in the family (genetics)

Examination
Dr. Cassese will conduct a detailed exam including ranges of motion, neurological tests, orthopedic tests, and palpation of the area to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent. She will then explain her findings to help you better understand the nature of your condition and necessary steps to further confirm the diagnosis.

X-rays
Your condition may require x-rays to either rule-in or rule-out more serious conditions, as well as developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Our office is not equipped with an x-ray machine; therefore if films are needed we will refer you to Cary Diagnostic Radiology for radiographs to be taken. If you have had x-rays of your condition within in the previous 6 months of your visit, we ask that you bring your films and the report with you for review.

Home Instructions
Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on home care and activity recommendations. This may be use of ice or heat, as well as restrictions on activity or work-related duties. It is important to follow these instructions carefully in order to prepare for treatment and reduce the risk of further injury.

Review of Findings
Patients will schedule a follow-up visit within 1-2 days of their initial visit to review x-ray findings, discuss the recommended treatment plan, other possible treatment options, and home exercises. We are committed to patient education and hope to provide the most comprehensive view of your condition.

As always, Back2Basics wants to make your first visit as pleasant as possible. Maybe you have worries beyond just your back pain. Talk to us about payment options, insurance questions etc.
